Litigation Attorney

Overview

A dynamic and reputable legal firm in Cape Town is seeking a Litigation Attorney with a passion for litigation and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services. The successful candidate will have 3–5 years’ post-admission experience, a strong courtroom presence, and the ability to manage litigation matters independently from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and handle a full litigation case load (civil and/or commercial).
• Appear in court for trials, motions, applications, and pre-trial proceedings.
• Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, affidavits, and legal opinions.
• Provide professional legal advice to clients.
• Maintain effective communication and relationships with clients, counsel, and courts.
• Oversee case file management and ensure procedural compliance.
• Conduct legal research and prepare for hearings and consultations.

Minimum Requirements:

• LLB Degree and admitted attorney with 3–5 years post-admission experience in litigation.
• In good standing with the Legal Practice Council (LPC).
• Demonstrated experience in civil and/or commercial litigation.
• Excellent drafting skills and courtroom advocacy.
• Strong knowledge of court rules and legal procedures.
• Ability to manage files independently and meet strict deadlines.
